Anch’ing 

or Hwaining, a city in eastern China, in the province of Anhwei. The population was 131,000 as of 1959. Anch’ing is a port on the northern bank of the Yangtze River and serves as a transfer point for mining, agricultural, and industrial products from the interior of the province down the Yangtze. The city has plants for processing agricultural products. Anch’ing is an important center for tea production. The city is also involved in the textile business and the production of chemical fertilizers.
