languages (more accurately, dialects) of the aborigines of the Andaman Archipelago in the Indian Ocean. The exact number of people speaking the Andamanese languages is unknown (a few hundred). Three languages (dialects) can be distinguished. The languages have not been extensively studied, and their genetic links have not been established. Their structure places them among the agglutinative languages. The grammatical structure of the languages has archaic features of great scientific interest.
