Andriiashev, Anatolii Petrovich 

Born Aug. 6 (19), 1910. Soviet ichthyologist and zoogeographer. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR since 1966.

Andriiashev graduated from Leningrad State University in 1933 and worked there until 1939. He subsequently worked at the Sevastopol’ Biological Station and, beginning in 1944, at the Zoological Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. A member of the first (1955–56) and third (1957–58) antarctic expeditions, he served as the USSR representative in biology on the International Committee for the Study of the Antarctic.
