AndrosIsland (pop., 2000: 7,686), The Bahamas. The Bahamas' largest island, it extends about 100 mi (160 km) north to south and about 45 mi (72 km) east to west; its area is 2,300 sq mi (6,000 sq km). Just off its eastern coast is the third largest barrier reef in the world. Andros 1. an island in the Aegean Sea, the northernmost of the Cyclades: long famous for wine. Capital: Andros.
