Andzhaparidze, Zurab Ivanovich
Born Apr. 12, 1928, in Kutaisi. Soviet opera singer (lyrical-dramatic tenor); People’s Artist of the USSR (1966). Member of the CPSU since 1954. After graduating from the Tbilisi Conservatory (1952, class of professor D. Ia. Andguladze), Andzhaparidze was accepted by the Paliashvili Theater of Opera and Ballet. His parts have included José (Bizet’s Carmen), Cavaradossi (Puccini’s Tosca), Malkhaz (Paliashvili’s Daisi), Radames (Verdi’s Aïda), and Mindiia (Taktakishvili’s Mindiia). Since 1959 he has been soloist at the Bolshoi Theater (Moscow). In 1964 he performed the role of Hermann in Tchaikovsky’s opera The Queen of Spades. He has performed on tour in Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Italy, France, Yugoslavia, Canada, Rumania, and elsewhere. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
