Anger, Kenneth (1932– ) filmmaker, author; born in Santa Monica, Calif. Raised in the Hollywood scene as a child actor, he early rejected conventional movies and by age 15 was making provocative short experimental films. He worked for some years in Europe making outrageous and often inscrutable films, and although he gained a reputation among avant garde filmmakers and buffs, he did not come to wider attention until Scorpio Rising (1964). While his films, with their often explicit sexual imagery, were not designed to attract most viewers, he reached a wider public with the publication of Hollywood Babylon (1975), his exposé of some of the more shocking aspects of the film world. |
