Astakhova, Anna Mikhailovna 

Born June 22 (July 4), 1886, in Kronstadt. Soviet Russian folklorist. Astakhova’s research is devoted to byliny (epic folk songs), the fate of folk poetry, and Soviet folklore. During expeditions to Karelia, on the Pinega, Mezen’, and Pechora rivers, to Pomor’e and Siberia, and to Moscow and Leningrad ob-lasts Astakhova collected over 10,000 folk poems.
