Borisoglebskaia (Sidorenko-Sviderskaia), Anna Ivanovna
Born July 1 (13), 1868, in Sebezh; died Sept. 26, 1939, in Kiev. Soviet Ukrainian actress. People’s Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1936). Beginning in 1888, Borisoglebskaia worked in major Ukrainian companies: those of M. L. Kropivnitskii, P. K. Saksaganskii, N. K. Sadovskii, and others. In 1919 she was one of the organizers of the T. Shevchenko First State Ukrainian Drama Theater in Kiev (now located in Dnepropetrovsk). From 1920 to 1925 she worked in the theatrical companies of Western Ukraine, and from 1925 until the end of her life she was with the I. Franko Ukrainian Theater in Kiev. Her roles included Hanna in Karpenko-Karyi’s/1 Wretched Woman, Shkandybikha in Mirnyi’s Limerivna, Khivria in Starit-skii’s The Sorochintsy Fair, Klara in Afinogenov’s Fear, Mariia Tarasovna and Varvara in Korneichuk’s Platón Kre-chet and Bogdan Khmel’nitskii. Borisoglebskaia’s art, representing the realistic, national school of acting, is distinguished by great skill in creating a role. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
