Annakulieva, Annagul’ 

Born Dec. 31, 1924, in Gasan-Kuli Raion, Ashkhabad Oblast. Soviet Turkmen opera singer (soprano). People’s Artist of the USSR (1965). Member of the CPSU since 1952.

Annakulieva has been a performer with the Turkmen Theater of Opera and Ballet in Ashkhabad since 1941. Her roles include Zokhre in Shaposhnikov’s Zokhre and Takhir, Shasenem in Shaposhnikov and Ovezov’s Shasenem and Garib, Ogul’bek in Shaposhnikov and Mukhatov’s The Poet and the Judge, Tat’iana and Liza in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and Queen of Spades, and Natasha in Dar-gomyzhskii’s The Mermaid. Annakulieva was awarded the Order of Lenin, the Badge of Honor, and various medals.
