Annensky, Innokenty Feodorovich (ēnəkĕn`tyē fyô`dərəvĭch ənyĕn`skē), 1856–1909, Russian poet. A classical scholar, he translated Euripides before he began to publish verse in 1904. His highly metrical lyrics concern death, suffering, and beauty. Annensky's scant output is collected in Quiet Songs (1904) and The Cypress Chest (1910). How to thank TFD for its existence?
