gear pump

[′gir ‚pəmp]
(mechanical engineering)
A rotary pump in which two meshing gear wheels contrarotate so that the fluid is entrained on one side and discharged on the other.

Gear Pump

a rotary pump with gears as working members. Involute straight-cut, helical, or herringbone gears are ordinarily used. Such pumps are simple in design, compact, and reliable. Their output ranges from 0.25 to 40 cu m per hr at pressures up to 3 meganewtons per m2 (30 kg-force per cm2). Gear pumps are used mainly for circulating petroleum products in machine lubrication systems and in hydraulic drive mechanisms.

gear pump
Gear pump.
A high-pressure pump used in hydraulic, oil, and fuel systems. The fluid is pressurized when it passes between the teeth of a gear and radiused case of the pump. It is a constant displacement-type pump whose output is varied by spilling the pump output fluid back into the pump inlet.

Outstanding resistance to both wear and chemical attack are among the key features of the HNP 11558 micro annular gear pump, recently added to the established range of HNP MZR internal gear pumps.
Company's line of high-pressure micro annular gear pumps is designed to offer greater flexibility and ease in equipment integration.
For applications requiring higher flow rates, higher pressures or aggressive dosing fluids, Bronkhorst employs HNP micro annular gear pumps, for flows up to 70kg/h, and Micropump liquid gear pumps, for flows up to 1000 kg/h, both series again offering high precision dosing and pulseless delivery.
