Anstey, F., pseud. of Thomas Anstey Guthrie, 1856–1934, English author. He relinquished his law practice to write humorous fiction. His best and most successful works are marked by an atmosphere of fantasy and include Vice Versa (1882), The Tinted Venus (1885), and The Brass Bottle (1900). Besides translating several comedies of Molière, he wrote the play The Man from Blankley's, successfully produced in 1901.
