Antin, Mary

Antin, Mary (1881–1949) author, social reformer; born in Polotsk, Russia. She emigrated to the United States in 1894 and was educated at Barnard College. Her books, such as From Polotzk to Boston (1899) and The Promised Land (1912), detailed immigrant life in America. A lecturer and activist, she campaigned against restrictive immigration legislation.
