Antonelli, Giacomo (jä`kōmō äntōnĕl`lē), 1806–76, Italian cardinal and statesman of the Roman Catholic Church, adviser to Pope Pius IX Pius IX, 1792–1878, pope (1846–78), an Italian named Giovanni M.
