Seredina, Antonina Aleksandrovna 

Born Dec. 23, 1929, in the village of Lovtsovo, Rameshki Raion, Kalinin Oblast. Soviet athlete. Honored Master of Sports (1960) and Honored Coach of the USSR (1972). Candidate of pedagogical sciences (1973). Member of the CPSU since 1953. Seredina, a champion kayakist, was an Olympic champion in 1960, with two gold medals, a world champion in 1966, a champion of Europe five times between 1959 and 1967, and a champion of the USSR 16 times between 1958 and 1968. Seredina has been awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Badge of Honor, and various medals.
