a river in Altai Krai, RSFSR; a left-hand tributary of the Ob River. Its two sources are the Chernyi Anui and the Belyi Anui. The Anui is 327 km long (from its source the Belyi Anui); its basin has an area of 6,390 sq km. In its upper reaches it flows between the Anui and Bashchelak ranges. It is fed by snow and rain; its average discharge of water is about 250 cu m/sec. The Anui freezes over in November; the ice breaks up in April.
