The technology used for illuminating phosphors in Sony's CRT Trinitron monitors. Its results were especially valued in desktop publishing and graphic design circles for its color purity, color saturation and brightness levels. Sony phased out its 17" and 19" Trinitron displays in 2003, maintaining only the larger CRT screen models as the company moved further toward LCD panels. See slot mask.
