Apolda 

a city in the German Democratic Republic, in Erfurt District. Population in 1970, 29,000. Apolda has been a textile center since the 16th century and produces knitted goods, leather goods, knitting machines, and other textile equipment. The city has a unique museum of bells from various periods and countries.
