Apollo Butterfly 

(Parnassius apollo), diurnal butterfly of the family Papilionidae. The wings are white, transparent at the tops, with black and red spots, and the wingspan is up to 9 cm. The apollo butterfly is found in the mountains of Europe, in the Caucasus, in southern Siberia, and on the plains in many European parts of the USSR. In June and July it flies in pine coppices. The larva lives on orpine and houseleek.
