applied potential tomography [ə′plīd pə′ten·chəl tə′mäg·rə·fē]
(medicine) A method of producing images of the electrical impedance of tissues, in which potentials are applied to the body through skin electrodes, and the resulting currents give rise to measurable potentials elsewhere on the body from which the impedance of organs and tissues can be determined.
