Ararat, MountTurkish Agri DagiExtinct volcanic massif, eastern Turkey. Located in Agri province, near the Iranian border, Ararat has two peaks, Great Ararat, at 16,853 ft (5,137 m) the highest point of elevation in Turkey, and Little Ararat, almost 13,000 ft (4,000 m). Ararat is traditionally associated with the mountain where Noah's ark came to rest at the end of the biblical Deluge. A village on its slopes at the site where Noah is said to have built an altar was destroyed in an earthquake in 1840. How to thank TFD for its existence?
