Arbor Lodge State Historical Park Location: In Nebraska City. Facilities: Arbor Lodge Museum, modern restrooms, picnic areas and shelter, trail, arboretum. Special Features: A stately, 52-room, neo-colonial mansion, Arbor Lodge was completed in 1903 by Joy Morton, founder of the Morton Salt Company. House and grounds were donated to the state in 1923 to be preserved as a monument to Joy's father, J. Sterling Morton, the founder of Arbor Day. Furnishings in the mansion are authentic, and a collection of antique carriages and wagons is displayed in the carriage house.
