Arbuzov Reaction 

a convenient method of forming a chemical bond between phosphorus and carbon, involving the change of valence of phosphorus from the trivalent to the pentavalent state. The Arbuzov reaction is widely used in synthesizing organophosphorus compounds. For example:

The product of the above reaction is a structural isomer of a basic ester. The Arbuzov reaction, used to obtain various organophosphorus compounds, was discovered by A. E. Arbuzov in 1905.
