Ardatov

the central city in Ardatov Raion, Mordovian ASSR. Located on the Alatyr’ River (a western tributary of the Sura River) 11 km from the Ardatov railway station (on the Kanash-Krasnyi Uzel Une). Population, 9,000 (1968). Ardatov has a creamery, a cotton batting factory, and a logging enterprise. The Ardatov illumination equipment plant is located near the town. There is a medical school and a cultural-educational school. Ardatov was organized in 1780 from the village of Novotroitskoe.

Ardatov

an urban-type settlement; the center of Ardatov Raion, Gorky Oblast RSFSR. Located on the Lemet’ River 30 km southwest of the railway station of Mukhtolovo (on the Murom-Arzamas line). The population was 6,500 in 1968. Ardatov has a starch-producing combine, dairies, bakeries, and a cattle-fattening sovkhoz. There is an agricultural technicum and a people’s theater.
