Arias Montanus, Benedictus (bĕnədĭk`təs ā`rēəs mŏntā`nəs), or Benito Arias Montano (bānē`tō ä`ryäs mōntä`nō), 1527–98, Spanish Benedictine monk, editor of the Antwerp Polyglot Bible Polyglot Bible (pŏl`ēglŏt), Bible in which different texts, often in different languages, are laid out in parallel columns.
