Asdreni, Aleksandr Sotir Drenova 

Born Apr. 11, 1872, in the village of Drenova, near Korçë; died Dec. 11, 1945, in Bucharest. Albanian poet and publicist.

Asdreni studied in Rumania and took part in the work of the Albanian émigré societies struggling against the Turkish yoke. He began his literary activity in 1900. In his first verse collections, The Sun’s Rays (1904) and Dreams and Tears (1912), Asdreni sang the praises of his native land and its landscape and national heroes. The collection Psalms of an Exile, in which patriotic themes predominate, appeared in 1930.
