Asheboro (ăsh`bərə), town (1990 pop. 16,362), seat of Randolph co., central N.C., in the Piedmont; inc. 1796. Manufactures include transportation equipment, furniture, small appliances, apparel, shoes, and lumber. A prehistoric Keyauwee burial ground is nearby.
