Asilomar State Beach & Conference Grounds Location: Adjacent to Sunset Drive in Pacific Grove. Facilities: Beach, conference center (including meeting halls, 314 guest rooms, and dining facilities), hiking trails, nature trails (é). Activities: Fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing. Special Features: Asilomar Beach is a narrow one-mile strip of sandy beach and rocky coves with no restrooms or picnic areas. A boardwalk across the dunes gives access to the conference grounds, which are located in a beautiful setting of dunes and pines in Monterey Bay. The original buildings, established in 1913, were designed by noted San Francisco architect Julia Morgan.
