Assi, Adolphe Alphonse
(A. A. Assy). Born Apr. 27, 1841; died Feb. 7, 1886. Member of the Paris Commune of 1871; by profession a worker and engineer. In the late 1850’s and early 1860’s, Assi participated in the Italian volunteer forces of G. Garibaldi. He was an active participant in the January strike of 1870 in Crioso. He was taken to court in the third trial of the First International (1870). He was a member of the central committee of the National Guard. After Mar. 18, 1871, he was commandant of the City Hall and member of the Commission of Public Safety responsible for the production of military equipment. He leaned toward the Proudhonist wing.
