A takeoff of an aircraft or a missile by using a supplementary source of power, usually rockets.

assisted takeoff

An aerodyne takeoff assisted by additional acceleration provided by some external force such as a rocket, a self-propelled trolley, or a catapult. Hence, the terms jet-assisted or rocket-assisted takeoff.
