Avar Dramatic Theater 

named after Gamzat Tsadas. Founded in 1935.

The theater serves the Avar neighborhoods and auls (villages) of the Dagestan ASSR, working approximately six months of the year in Buinaksk. It has staged such plays as Aidemir and Umagainat, Vazalai, Cobbler by Tsadas, Khurshilov’s Grim Days, Zalov’s Inspired Singer, Gamzatov’s Mountain Girl, and Shakespeare’s Othello. Members of the theater’s troupe in 1969 included People’s Artist of the RSFSR Z. Nabieva, Honored Artist of the RSFSR P. Khizroeva, A. Mamaeva, B. Inusilov, and People’s Artist of the Dagestan ASSR A. Kurbanova.
