Vagner, Avgust Fedorovich
Born Aug. 29 (Sept. 10), 1828, in Nerft, Courland Province; died Nov. 2 (14), 1886, in Pulkovo. Russian astronomer and specialist in astrometrics. Graduated from the University of Dorpat. In 1866, Vagner became vice-director of the Pulkovo Observatory. He worked out a method of equalizing the system of coordinates of reference stars. For 30 years he made observations on the large transit instrument to determine the straight ascents of the basic stars for the Pulkovo absolute catalogues. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
