Flow of fluid through an axially symmetric device such that the direction of the flow is along the axis of symmetry. Also known as axisymmetric flow.

About 120 papers on various aspects of turbomachinery are presented in sections on general interest, axial flow fan and compressor aerodynamics, axial flow turbine aerodynamics, radial turbomachinery aerodynamics, design methods and CFD modeling, noise and innovative noise reduction approaches, and unsteady flows in turbomachinery.
This axial flow design is said to outperform other types of impellers by generating up to 70% more flow for the same speed power.
