axial plane [′ak·sē·əl ′plān]
(crystallography)
A plane that includes two of the crystallographic axes.
The plane of the optic axis of an optically biaxial crystal.
(geology)
A plane that intersects the crest or trough in such a manner that the limbs or sides of the fold are more or less symmetrically arranged with reference to it. Also known as axial surface.
