Azerbaijan Museum of Art
(in Russian, the R. Mu-stafaev Azerbaijan Museum of Arts), located in Baku. The museum has the largest collection in the Azerbaijan SSR (more than 7,000 works of art). The exhibits show Azerbaijani fine, decorative, and folk art of different periods. The museum has works of the founders of Azerbaijani realist art—Mirza Kadym Erivani, M. Navvab, B. Kengerli, and A. Azimzade—and the masterpieces of Soviet Azerbaijani painters. The Russian art section has works by I. K. Aivazovskii, N. I. Argunov, V. L. Borovikovskii, K. P. Briullov, V. A. Tropinin, V. E. Makovskii, K. A. Korovin, I. I. Levitan, I. E. Grabar’, and others; the section of Western European art has paintings by Guercino, M. Mierevelt, J. Sustermans, A. Ostade, G. Dughet, and others.
