Born in Worcester, son of Ernest and Azubah (Coops) Bagley, he graduated from Boys Trade School, served in the Army, and worked for many years at UMass Hospital.
lThe Jockey Club and Beverley are to pay pounds 5,000 to owner Andrew Birkle, whose Azubah was first past the post in a recent ten-furlong handicap at the track, only for the race to be declared void because it was off just over a minute early.
The race is void, but half the prize-money is offered to the first home, Azubah.
