BRAS

BRAS
(Broadband Remote Access Server) Pronounced "b-raz." A network switch that funnels traffic from DSL and/or cable modem aggregation devices to various carriers' networks based on type of application or type of service required. It supports authentication, traffic accounting, high-level protocols such as IP and MPLS. A BRAS lets carriers fine tune their service offerings as well as charge for traffic on a per-byte basis.
