Bui

Bui 

a city in western Kostroma Oblast, RSFSR, located on the Kostroma River at its confluence with the Veksa River. A railroad center for the Danilov, Vologda, and Kirov lines. Population, 25,000 (1967). Bui has chemical plants, sawmills, garment and furniture factories, and a food-processing industry. An agricultural technicum, music school, and museum of local lore are located in the city. Bui was founded in 1536 as a military post.


Bui 

a river, the left tributary of the Kama River; its upper reaches are in Perm’ Oblast, RSFSR, and its lower reaches in the Bashkir ASSR. Length, 228 km; basin area, 6,530 sq km. The average annual discharge in the middle reaches, at the village of Chishmy, is 24.3 cu m/sec. The river is used for floating timber.
