Baarab Bairakh
(“Red Banner”), the republic newspaper of Dagestan ASSR, published in the Avar language. It is published in Makhachkala and comes out five times a week. Circulation, 37,000 (1970). It was founded in 1918 under the title “Khaltulel chai” (“Working People”), after which its name was changed several times. In 1968, the paper was awarded the Badge of Honor.
