How it works Diatomaceous earth is mined from the fossilized silica shell remains of unicellular or colonial algae or one-celled pytoplankton in the class Bacillariophyceae, better known as diatoms, that converted the silica they ingested to form their shells.
As classes mais representativas foram Cyanophyceae (28 e 26%), Zygnemaphyceae (21 e 22%) e Bacillariophyceae (19 e 23%) na lagoa Juparaná e no rio Pequeno, respectivamente.
