Bacillin

 

an antibiotic produced by the hay bacillus (Bacillus subtilis). Chemically, a polypeptide. It acts on gram-positive (staphylococci) and gram-negative (Escherichia coli) bacteria. It is not widely used because it is neutralized in the presence of blood proteins and serum proteins.
