Bagir-Khan
Died 1915. Leader of revolutionary bands of fidais in Tabriz in 1908 and 1909 during the Iranian Revolution of 1905–11. Brother-in-arms of the national Iranian hero Sattar-khan. Bagir-khan was a bricklayer by occupation. For service in defending Tabriz against the reactionary detachments of the shah’s troops and the khans, the Tabriz enjumen (assembly) conferred on him the title of salare melli (people’s leader). During World War I, Bagir-khan fought on the side of the Iranian bourgeois nationalists. He was killed in a skirmish with the Kurds in the vicinity of Qasr-e Shirin.
