Bagration, Petr Romanovich
Born Sept. 12 (24), 1818; died Jan. 17 (29), 1876, in St. Petersburg. Russian engineer and scientist in nonferrous metallurgy. In 1843, Bagration discovered the cyanide process for extracting gold from ore. He was the first to study the effect of electrical current on the solubility of gold and silver in solutions of cyanic compounds. He was a nephew of P. I. Bagration. REFERENCEPlaksin, I. N.
