Baikal Bay

interior bay of the Gulf of Sakhalin in the Sea of Okhotsk on the north shore of Sakhalin Island. The bay is protected on the north by Ush Island. The width of the bay’s entrance is 20 km, and the depth is 10–25 m. There are irregular diurnal tides, with a rise and fall of about 2 m. The bay is covered with ice from October through May. The port is Moskal’vo.
