Baku Norther

a local north wind on the Apsheron Peninsula; it is similar to the bora and is associated with intrusions of cold air coming around the Greater Caucasus from the east. The Baku norther is observed in all seasons, about 60 times a year on the average, and lasts for on to three days. It reaches gale force 30 percent of the time. The speed of the Baku norther is up to 40 m/sec.
