Bancroft, Wilder Dwight (1867–1953) physical chemist; born in Middletown, R.I. A professor at Cornell University (1895–1937), he founded and edited the Journal of Physical Chemistry (1896–1932). He did research in electrochemistry, colloid chemistry, and contact catalysis. His career was cut short by an accident in 1937. How to thank TFD for its existence?
