Barakzai

Barakzai 

Afghan tribe belonging to the Durrani group. They live to the east of Kandahar, in the valley of the Ar-ghastan River and on the banks of the Helmand River. Their population was approximately 300,000 according to a 1967 estimate. They speak a dialect of Western Pashto. They adhere to the Muslim Sunnite religion. Farming is the principal occupation of the Barakzai. In the 18th century they played an important role in the formation of the independent government of Afghanistan.

Baghlan governor, Mohammad Akbar Barakzai, also confirmed the arrests.
We will try our best to avoid the mistakes made in the first round to hold a transparent and fraud-free election," Independent Election Commission (IEC) deputy chief electoral officer Zakaria Barakzai told a news conference.
Barakzai said that Afghan and international forces had acknowledged that they could provide security for as many as 6,600 polling stations, and the commission had actually cut that number by almost 300 because of its concerns about fraud.
