There is a strong association in the psychology literature between novelty and anxiety, but also between novelty and greater risk-taking (Bevins, 2001; Butler & Montgomery, 2004; Donohew, Bardo,& Zimmerman, 2004; Laviola, Macri, Morley-Fletcher, & Adriani, 2003).
