Barito (bärē`tō), river, c.550 mi (890 km) long, rising in the mountains of central Borneo, Indonesia, and flowing generally S to the Java Sea. Banjarmasin is the head of oceangoing navigation. The wide floodplain of the lower Barito is intensely cultivated and contains one of Indonesia's largest rubber plantations. How to thank TFD for its existence? 1) The Riam Kanan-Martapura area in South Kalimantan held by other companies, 2) The Upper Barito, Sungai Lahung / Gula areas in Central Kalimantan held by the Company's Jangkang and Masupa Ria "B" CoW's, and 3) The Ngabang area in West Kalimantan held by the Company's Landak CoW.
