Bark, Petr L’vovich
Born Apr. 6 (18), 1869, in Ekaterinoslav; died Jan. 16, 1937, in London. Russian statesman. In 1892, Bark graduated from St. Petersburg University. He was director and later, manager, of the St. Petersburg office of the State Bank (1897–1906), and he was a member of the board of the Russian-Chinese Bank (1899–1905) and director, manager, and member of the board of the Volga-Kama Commercial Bank (1907–11). From 1914 until the February Revolution of 1917 he was minister of finance. Bark promoted the strengthening of ties between the tsarist government and representatives of monopoly capital.
